Black Bean Chocolate Brownies

Prep Time: 10 min // Cook Time: 30 min // Total: 40 min // Serving: 9 Brownies


Ingredients:

  • 1 can (15 ounces) black beans, rinse under cold water and pat dry

  • 1 egg

  • 1 tablespoon or 2 orange zest (optional for orange-chocolate brownies)

  • ½ cup orange juice or juice from 2 oranges (optional for orange-chocolate brownies)

  • ¼ cup cocoa powder

  • ½ cup brown sugar

  • ½ cup flour

  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt


Instructions: 

  1. Pre heat the oven to 350 degrees

  2. Mix the dry ingredients together in a bowl: cocoa powder, brown sugar, flour, baking powder and salt

  3. Bean paste:  Place beans and wet ingredients (coconut oil, egg, orange juice, orange zest vanilla extract) in a mixer. Mix the ingredients to a puree consistency

  4. Place the bean paste to the dry ingredient bowl, mix well

  5. Pure into an 8x8 greased pan

  6. Bake for 20-25 minute
